- USB Printer Port not showing on Windows 98 system by jskw Jun 19, 2008 5:20AM PDT I am trying to connect a Lexmark E120 Laser Printer to a Windows 98 system.
- Hi there: A friend of mine has specialized licensed software running on his old old Windows 98 based PC. Recently his printer just went dead and he is having problem finding a new printer that works with Windows 98. Does anyone know if there is still a Windows 98 compatible printer on sale out.
Does anyone know of an HP Printer driver for windows 98 that will enable me to map to and print to an HP Officejet 8610 printer connected to a machine on the network that runs a newer OS? The 8610 does not have a 98 driver. Scan n stitch crack.

As USB was just coming into being during the Windows 98 years it is likely he does not have the ports, and if he did it would be USB 1. So you will have to look for a printer with either parallel or serial interface for him. Then the challenge is to find drivers for the Windows 98 system. Oldbie, the problem is solved. I can now print fine to the HP Officejet Pro 8610 with the Windows 98 driver for the HP Deskjet 9800 series printer. When you run the executable to install the 9800 there is an option to install it as a nework printer using a TCP/IP connection (without verifying the printer) and that works fine. Because Windows 98 is an obsolete Operating System, should this Deskjet be defective there are no printers that are supported on Windows 98. The earliest Operating System that currently has print drivers is Windows XP. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting.
You can try the generic text driver if all you need to print is text. Otherwise, you can try another officejet driver available to you even though you dont have the 8610 driver.

Jump to PostReimage cleaner mac review. Besides the fact that Win98 is waaaaay out of date and insecure, why don't you upgrade to a current (or recent) Linux system? The CUPS printer files for Linux/Unix can probably handle your printer without problem. Also, viruses will pretty much be a thing of the past.

I use to do this with laserjet drivers all of the time. I'd use the laserjet4 for printing to newer laserjets. For the most part, printing text and graphics would work. i just didnt have access to the advanced settings on the newer printer (duplexing, etc.). You can try that with an older officejet driver.
